Hemp is the crop of Alaska's future. If you are interested in growing hemp for any of the thousands of uses for the plant, please contact our team for a free consultation about regulations, acreage setup, seeds, or business planning. Your success is our Victory!

Here is our formal policy statement from Sacred Seeds Foundation outlining a balanced position on AI data centers in the Mat-Su and Alaska, supporting development only with strong environmental safeguards including hemp buffer zones, water protection, responsible siting away from homes, and science-based community protections.

What is an AI Data Center? What kind of data does it store? Why is it necessary? What harm could it do to our pristine Alaskan lands? This document asks the hard questions and  gives honest answers. We ask you to consider these questions with eyes on the future and global competition for our state. We must protect our children and grandchildren from the dangers of uncontrolled AI resource consumption.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is our home base for Sacred Seeds and we want to see a thriving community that can offer high paying jobs that keep our residents working here at home in the Valley. This paper outlines the reasons why the Mat-Su should consider leading the way with one AI data center to start but ONLY with environmental safeguards.

We believe that AI data centers are necessary to create a competitive and independent future for Alaskan citizens BUT we  understand the risks to our lands and our people. This research policy shows how planting Hemp around these data centers can powerfully protect the Alaskan lands and people while creating an energy source to offset energy use.

Hemp is the People's Industry

Industrial hemp is not a niche crop — it is one of the most versatile, sustainable, and economically powerful plants on Earth. For most of human history, hemp was a cornerstone of agriculture, industry, and medicine. It was used to make rope, cloth, paper, building materials, food, and oil long before petroleum plastics and synthetic fibers replaced it.

That replacement was not driven by efficiency.
It was driven by policy.

In Alaska, the case for hemp is even stronger than in most states. Our communities pay some of the highest energy costs in the nation. We import the majority of our food. Our rural villages face chronic economic isolation. Hemp addresses all three of these problems directly — as a local food source, a feedstock for biofuel, and a raw material for construction, textiles, and manufacturing that can be produced here, processed here, and sold here.

When we say hemp is the people's industry, we mean it literally. Hemp does not require a large corporation to be viable. A family farm, a tribal community, a small cooperative — all of them can grow hemp, process it, and generate real economic returns. The infrastructure to scale that potential is exactly what Sacred Seeds Foundation is building.

This is not about one plant.
It is about Alaska's right to feed itself, fuel itself, and build its own future.
